Fun Way To Blow Up Balloons & Teach Children Science

This is a fantastic project for children to have fun and learn some basic science. Kids love to play with balloons. Instead of inflating those party balloons with helium or horse power of the kids, use this simple chemical reaction. Don’t get scared, all you need are just some household items
- baking soda
- vinegar
- plastic bottle
- balloon
- funnels
Step by step instructions
- Pour vinegar into the bottle to fill about 1/3 of the bottle.
- Pour baking soda into the balloon for about half of the balloon. (Stretch the balloon a little bit before you do so)
- Seal the bottle with the balloon. (Make sure no baking soda to spill into the bottle)
- Lift the balloon to let the baking soda to fall into the bottle.
- Watch the two react and generate gas to inflate the balloon.
- Discuss with children the science behind: Baking soda and vinegar reacts to generate carbon dioxide, which expands and inflates the balloon.
